6.2.7. Oxygen sensor

GENERAL INFORMATION

The sensor of oxygen measures the content of oxygen in a stream of exhaust gases. The sensor of oxygen reports about the content of oxygen in exhaust gases by means of the output tension which can change from size 0,1 B (high content of oxygen, poor mix), up to the size of 0,9 V (the small content of oxygen, rich mix). On the basis of an oxygen sensor signal the ECM block changes a proportion of fuel-air mix, operating duration of an impulse of opening of fuel nozzles. The proportion of mix of 14,7 parts of air on 1 part of fuel is ideal for the minimum content of harmful substances in exhaust gases. This proportion ensures the most effective functioning of the catalyst.

On the sensor of oxygen there is no output tension if its temperature is lower than the normal working temperature which is equal 320 °C. During warming up of the sensor of oxygen the ESM block works in the mode of the broken-off electric chain.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. For check of operability of the sensor of oxygen connect to the electric socket of the sensor millivoltmetr and during the operation of the engine check tension created by the oxygen sensor.
2. At start of the cold engine the sensor of oxygen induces a signal in the form of constant tension of 0,1-0,2 V. in two minutes of work the engine reaches optimum working temperature, and the signal of the sensor of oxygen starts changing ranging from 0,1 to 0,9 B (the closed chain). If the sensor of oxygen does not pass into the mode of the closed chain, or on it too much time is required, replace the oxygen sensor.
