Check of the sensor of provision of a butterfly valve

The sensor of provision of a butterfly valve is a variable resistor which changes resistance depending on an angle of rotation of a butterfly valve. The signal from the sensor is used by the computer for definition of provision of a butterfly valve. For check of the sensor two diagnostic methods are used. The first method measure sensor resistance depending on the provision of a butterfly valve. The second method checks change of a signal when moving a butterfly valve.

The first method is used for check of the 4-contact sensors installed on the car till 1994 (see rice. The sensor of position of the throttle gate / the switch with 4 contacts which was installed on model till 1994).

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. On models till 1994 disconnect the electric socket from the sensor of provision of a butterfly valve and connect an ohmmeter to contacts 1 and 2 sensors (see rice. Check of the sensor of provision of a butterfly valve). At completely closed butterfly valve the ohmmeter has to show 0, and at completely open butterfly valve the ohmmeter has to show infinity. Otherwise replace the sensor of provision of a butterfly valve.
2. Disconnect the electric socket from the sensor of provision of a butterfly valve. Establish a probe edge between the screw of a stopper of the case of a throttle and part G (see rice. Check of the sensor of provision of a butterfly valve). Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between contacts No. 1 and 2 of the electric socket. At installation of the probe 0,7 mm thick resistance has to be minimum, and at installation of the probe of 0,9 mm resistance has to be equal to infinity.
3. For adjustment weaken screws and slowly rotate the sensor until the arrow of an ohmmeter changes the situation. Fix the sensor in this situation and, using probes, repeatedly check conductivity between contacts 1 and 2.

The second method controls operation of the sensor of provision of a butterfly valve during the operation of the engine. For this purpose it is necessary, without disconnecting the socket from the sensor, to connect the digital voltmeter to the socket.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Connect the negative probe of the voltmeter to contact "earth" of the socket, and the positive probe of the voltmeter to contact "signal".
2. Include ignition, without starting the engine and watch instrument readings which have to be in limits 0,5 1,0 In at the closed butterfly valve and 4,5-5 B at completely open butterfly valve (see rice. Check of the sensor of provision of a butterfly valve without detachment from the sensor of the electric socket).
3. Disconnect the electric socket from the sensor of provision of a butterfly valve and, using the voltmeter, check that on contacts of the socket there is tension of 5 Century. Otherwise check an electric chain of the sensor of provision of a butterfly valve and the control unit.
