2.38. Service of the cooling system

Replacement of cooling liquid is made on the cold engine. Avoid hit of cooling liquid on the painted surfaces of a body and clothes. Otherwise wash out a place where cooling liquid, a plentiful amount of water got.

Plums of cooling liquid

1. Lift forward part of the car and record on supports.
2. Install the big container under a stopper plum of cooling liquid from a radiator (it is specified by an arrow). Unscrew a stopper and merge cooling liquid.
3. When the stream of the cooling liquid leaving a radiator stops, install the container under a drain stopper of the block of cylinders. Unscrew a drain stopper and give the chance to flow down cooling liquid from the block of cylinders (see rice. Washing of the cooling system

Cooling liquid needs to be changed periodically, and to wash out the cooling system as in channels of system the rust and dirt is formed.

1. For washing of a radiator merge cooling liquid from the cooling system, then disconnect hoses from the basis and the top tank of a radiator.
2. Insert a garden hose into the top branch pipe of a radiator and pass water through a radiator until water leaves pure of a branch pipe in the radiator basis.
3. If it is not possible to wash out a radiator clear water, use detergent.
4. Wash out a heater radiator, previously having opened the crane of a heater and having disconnected hoses from a heater. Connect a hose to one of hoses and wash out a pure stream until water does not follow from the second hose of the pure.

Filling of the cooling system

1. Before filling of the cooling system make sure that all hoses and collars in a good shape. Pay attention that mix of antifreeze has to be used all the year round for prevention of corrosion. Also check that a stopper on a radiator and drain traffic jams of the block of cylinders were established into place.
2. Install the handle of adjustment of temperature of a heater in the provision of the maximum temperature.
3. Slowly fill in cooling liquid in a radiator.
4. Without closing a radiator stopper, start the engine and warm up it up to the working temperature at which the thermostat will open and cooling liquid will start proceeding through a radiator, thus the top hose of a radiator will become hot.
5. Switch off and cool the engine, check the level of cooling liquid and, if necessary, bring it to norm.
6. Squeezing the top hose of a radiator, remove air from the engine cooling system then add cooling liquid to the demanded level. Establish a radiator stopper into place.
7. Start the engine and warm up it up to the normal working temperature and check tightness of the cooling system of the engine.
