2.31. Check and replacement of spark plugs

GENERAL INFORMATION

Tools necessary for replacement of spark plugs

1 – a key for a spark plug vyvinchivaniye
2 – dinamometrichesky key
3 – a key head with a ratchet
4 – extender
5 – a template for measurement of an interelectrode gap of a spark plug

For replacement of spark plugs it is necessary to use a special key for unscrewing of candles with the rubber condensing ring which allows to take the unscrewed spark plug from a nest. For replacement of spark plugs gather all necessary tools.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. When replacing candles prepare new candles of the demanded type.
2. Check an interelectrode gap in new candles by means of a template.
3. If necessary adjust an interelectrode gap. For correction of a gap turn in only a lateral electrode.
4. Not to mix high-voltage wires, make replacement of spark plugs in turn. At removal of high-voltage wires from spark plugs use the special tool. Pull not for a wire, and for a protective cover.
5. Unscrew a spark plug. On the engine of 2,5 l for access to spark plugs on the left side of the engine, it is necessary to remove the accumulator and a broad tank.
6. Visual control of working part of spark plugs can show, a condition of the engine. If the nasal part of an insulator of spark plugs pure and white, without raid, it testifies to too poor mix. It also specifies that the candle too hot, that is heat from the central electrode is taken away slowly. If this is so, it is necessary to adjust composition of mix or to replace a candle. If the nasal part of an insulator of a candle is covered with a black raid, it means that mix too rich. If the raid black and oily, it testifies to wear of the engine and need of its check and repair. If the nasal part of an insulator is covered with a light brown raid, the composition of mix is optimum, and the engine is in a good shape.
7. The interelectrode gap of a spark plug is of great importance as at too big and at too small gap the spark size changes that leads to decrease in overall performance of the engine. The gap has to conform to technical requirements always.
8. Before installation of a spark plug in the engine check that the carving was pure and all threads of a carving whole. Apply a thin film of antiprigarny material on a candle carving.
9. For screwing up of a candle on some rounds it is possible to use a piece of a rubber hose into which on the one hand to insert an insulator of a candle and, rotating a hose, to screw up a candle on some rounds, then it is necessary to remove a hose and to screw up a candle the demanded moment.
