3.3. Top dead point of the first cylinder

GENERAL INFORMATION

The top dead point of the piston is a point through which passes each piston at a provorachivaniye of a cranked shaft. Each piston reaches situation VMT at the end of a compression step, then again at the end of an exhaust step. For the purpose of installation of the mechanism of gas distribution of the engine the top dead point of the piston of the first cylinder is used.

Arrangement of the piston exactly in the top dead point extremely important when carrying out many works, for example, at removal of a camshaft, a gear belt and a pulley of a camshaft.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Before works on installation of the piston of the first cylinder in VTM, be convinced that the lever of gear shifting is in neutral situation, and the emergency brake will be tightened.
2. Disconnect system of ignition, having disconnected the electric socket from the ignition coil. Unscrew spark plugs.
3. For installation of any of pistons in VMT rotate a cranked shaft one of the methods described below. Thus rotate a cranked shaft of the engine clockwise.
4. The most preferable method is a provorachivaniye of a cranked shaft of the engine for a bolt of fastening of a pulley of a cranked shaft.
5. For saving of time it is possible to use a starter for a piston supply to VMT. Exact installation of the piston in VMT is made by turn of a cranked shaft for a bolt of fastening of a pulley of a cranked shaft.
6. Unscrew a spark plug of the first cylinder and in an opening for a candle screw in the manometer with an adapter.
7. Rotating a cranked shaft of the engine, and watching indications of the manometer, define the moment when pressure shown by the manometer ceases to increase. It testifies that the piston of the first cylinder was installed in VMT in a compression step.
8. Tighten a cranked shaft of the engine until the tag on a pulley of a cranked shaft is combined with figure 0 on a plate of the installation of the mechanism of gas distribution located on the forward party of the engine (it is specified by an arrow).
