The thermostat is located on forward part of the engine under the water pump (cm. rice. Water pump, rice. Water pump of the engine of 1,8 l).

| PERFORMANCE ORDER |
| 1. With defects in the cooling system check the level of cooling liquid and operability of the index of temperature. |
| 2. If after start the engine gets warm very slowly, perhaps, the thermostat is in constantly open situation, and it needs to be replaced. |
| 3. If the engine overheats, a hand check temperature of the top hose of a radiator. If the hose cold, perhaps, the thermostat is in a closed position and does not pass cooling liquid to a radiator. In this case the thermostat is also subject to replacement. |
| 4. If the thermostat is in open situation at the room temperature, it is subject to replacement. |
| 5. For check of the thermostat lower it on a twine in the container with water. Gradually heating water, notice temperature at which the thermostat starts opening and completely will open. Take the thermostat from water and check that it was completely closed after cooling. Replace the thermostat if its parameters differ from technical requirements. |

When opening a cover of a broad tank on the hot engine it is necessary to be careful as the leaving couples can lead to strong burns.
| PERFORMANCE ORDER |
| 1. Lift forward part of the car and record on supports. |
| 2. Merge cooling liquid from the cooling system. |
| 3. Install the corresponding container under a thermostat casing. Weaken a collar and remove a radiator hose from a thermostat casing. |

4. Unscrew bolts (are specified by shooters) and uncover a thermostat casing. |
|
5. Remove the thermostat, noting situation in which it was located (it is specified by shooters). |
| 6. Check operability of the thermostat. |
| 7. Clear the interfaced surfaces of the thermostat, a casing of the thermostat and a cover of a casing of the thermostat. |
| 8. Install the thermostat with new laying in a thermostat casing. Check that the ledge of the thermostat was as appropriate combined with a groove in a thermostat casing. |
| 9. Establish a casing of the thermostat and fix it bolts. |
| 10. Establish a radiator hose on a cover of a casing of the thermostat and fix a collar. |
| 11. Fill in cooling liquid in the engine cooling system. |
