8.2.7. Replacement of sealing rings

GENERAL INFORMATION

Liquid leak often arises because of wear of sealing rings of power shafts and / or a sealing ring of a gear wheel of the drive of a speedometer. Replacement of sealing rings does not represent complexity as it can be made without removal of a transmission from the car.

SEALING RING OF THE DRIVESHAFT (ONLY MODEL 4WD)

The sealing ring of the driveshaft is located in the back end of a transmission.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect the driveshaft from a transmission.
2. Using a screw-driver or the tool like a claw, take a sealing ring from a nest in back part of a transmission.
3. Grease working edges of a new sealing ring with transmission liquid and, using a tubular mandrel, establish a sealing ring in a nest in back part of a transmission.
4. Grease vents of the conducted shaft and the outer side of the plug of the driveshaft with a thin layer of greasing and install the driveshaft in a transmission.
5. Lower the car.

SEALING RING OF THE SENSOR OF THE DRIVE OF THE SPEEDOMETER

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. On early models disconnect a speedometer drive cable from a transmission. On later models disconnect the electric socket from the speed sensor.
2. Unscrew a bolt and take the mechanism of the drive of a speedometer or the sensor of speed.
3. Replace a sealing ring of round section on the mechanism of the drive of a speedometer and grease it with a thin butter layer.
4. Installation is made in sequence, the return to removal.
