Prevention

On the engine of 2,2 l before removal of camshafts it is necessary to remove a head of the block of cylinders previously.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. On the engine of 2,2 l merge cooling liquid from the cooling system.
2. Remove the mechanism of a tension of a gear belt and pulleys of camshafts.
3. Unscrew bolts and remove internal casings of a gear belt.
4. Uncover heads of the block of cylinders.
5. Remove the camshaft sensor.
6. On the engine of 2,2 l, working from the center to the periphery, gradually and consistently weaken bolts of fastening of assembly of yokes and remove it (see rice. Elements of fastening of assembly of yokes).
7. Store assembly of yokes so that openings for liquid were directed up.
8. On the engine of 2,5 l gradually and consistently from edge to the center unscrew bolts of fastening of covers of bearings of a camshaft (see rice. Elements of fastening of camshafts on the engine of 2,5 l).
9. Uncover bearings of a camshaft and take a camshaft from a head of the block of cylinders.
10. Store camshafts, covers of bearings and pushers so that they could be established on the places.
11. On the engine of 2,5 l take pushers from a head of the block of cylinders.
12. On the engine 1,8 and 2,2 of l remove a head of the block of cylinders. Uncover a forward sealing ring of a camshaft and take a camshaft from a head of the block of cylinders (see rice. Details of fastening of the left camshaft on the engine of 2,2 l, Details of fastening of the right camshaft on the engine of 2,2 l).

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. On engines 2,2 from 1990 to 1996 remove hydraulic pushers from yokes, and have them so that then them it was possible to establish on the places.
2. Check degree of wear of hydraulic pushers.
3. Arrange hydraulic pushers in the pallet with engine oil.
4. Pressing a pusher plunger, check that its course did not exceed 0,5 mm, otherwise replace a hydraulic pusher.
5. Check a condition of working surfaces of yokes. With considerable wear of a yoke it is necessary to replace.
6. On the engine of 2,5 l check a condition of hydraulic pushers for lack of zadir and scratches.
7. Check working surfaces of bearings of camshafts and contours of cams of camshafts for wear. With any wear replace a camshaft.
8. Using a micrometer, measure diameter of a neck of the bearing of a camshaft.
9. Using a micrometer, measure camshaft cam height.
10. Using a micrometer, measure diameter of the basis of a cam of a camshaft.
11. On the engine of 2,2 l measure the internal diameter of bearings of a camshaft. If there is a considerable wear of internal bearings of a camshaft, the head of the block of cylinders needs to be replaced.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Grease necks of bearings and cams of a camshaft with pure engine oil.
2. On the engine of 2,2 l establish camshafts in heads of the block of cylinders. Establish forward covers of camshafts with new sealing rings.
3. Establish a new sealing ring of a camshaft and establish heads of the block of cylinders on the engine.
4. Establish assembly of yokes on the engine and fix bolts.
5. Make a tightening of bolts in the following sequence: previously tighten bolts 1–4, then tighten bolts 5–8 the demanded moment and finally tighten bolts 1–4 the demanded moment (see rice. Sequence of a tightening of bolts of fastening of assembly of yokes on the engine of 2,2 l).
6. On the engine of 2,5 l oil pushers pure engine and establish them on the places.
7. Check that adjusting washers are established in pushers.
8. Establish camshafts so that cams of camshafts were directed aside, opposite to pushers.
9. On the engine of 2,5 l in order to avoid damages of valves in the course of installation it is necessary to establish camshafts under the corresponding corners (see rice. Corners of installation of camshafts).
10. It is not required to turn camshafts of the right head of the block of cylinders for alignment of adjusting tags.
11. The camshaft operating inlet valves of the left head of the block of cylinders it is necessary to turn on 80 ° clockwise, and the camshaft operating final valves of the left head of the block of cylinders needs to be turned on 45 ° counterclockwise.
12. Apply a thin film of sealant at installation of a forward cover of a camshaft.
13. Establish covers of bearings of camshafts and tighten them the demanded moment in a certain sequence (see rice. Sequence of a tightening of bolts of fastening of covers of a camshaft on the engine of 2,5 l).
14. Establish pulleys of camshafts and a gear belt. Check and, if necessary, adjust gaps of valves.
15. Further installation is made in sequence, the return to removal.
